September 14-18, 2009

Progress Reports will be given out this week.

Reading focus: Analyzing story structure (character, setting, plot) Identifying text features in nonfiction text; Using word parts/compound words

Text: "Lost City: The Discovery of Machu Picchu" pgs. 44-57
TEST on Wednesday Sept. 16

Language focus: Subjects and predicates, compound sentences
TEST on subjects and predicates Tuesday, Sept. 15
Homework: Monday, Sept. 14 (for those who need additional practice on subjects/predicates)

DLR focus: capitalization, punctuation, and grammar
DLRs are completed in class each morning and collected on Friday.

Writing: We will be sharing our response journal writing (completed each week) with each other.

Self-selected reading: Students will read at least 20 min. 3x per week FOR HOMEWORK and record this in their reading log. They will need a parent signature each week. I will check reading logs each Friday.
