**A.R. point goal for this grading period is 5 points by May 15 (2.5 pts. by April 17). Test percent goal is 85%. Students are required to read at least 3 nights/wk.
for at least 20 minutes each night (this can include the weekend), complete a reading log, and have it signed by a parent. Reading logs are checked on Friday. Students need to read at least one chapter book and at least one non-fiction book.
Reading & Language: We will be taking the ARMT on Monday & Tuesday.
We will begin taking the SAT on Wednesday (4-1-09) and continue through Tuesday of next week.
5th Period Lit Skills: We will continue working on parts of speech.

**A.R. point goal for this grading period is 5 points by March 17 . Test percent goal is 85%. Students are required to read at least 60 min./wk. (this can include the weekend), complete a reading log, and have it signed by a parent. Reading logs are checked on Friday. New this grading period: students need to read at least one chapter book and at least one non-fiction book.
1/2 & 3/4 reading: "The Emperor's Silent Army", pgs. 318-329. We will focus on summarizing, key vocabulary, and prefixes. TEST ON TUESDAY, MARCH 17. All work will be completed in class, unless a student is absent.
1/2 & 3/4 language: We will focus on linking verbs. All work will be completed in class, unless there is a change in schedule, and I will re-post.
5th lit. skills: We will be working on poetry this week. All work should be completed in class.
7/8 reading: "How Tia Lola Came to Stay," pages 133-147. We will focus on making inferences, key vocabulary, and summarizing. Students will have a timed reading on Monday & Thursday.
Students. We will be working on plural words in spelling. Spelling packet will go home on Monday and will be due on Thursday. TEST on Friday.
