**A.R. point goal for this grading period is 5 points by March 17 (2.5 points byFeb. 2). Test percent goal is 85%. Students are required to read at least 20 min. 3 times/wk. (this can include the weekend), complete a reading log, and have it signed by a parent. Reading logs are checked on Friday. New this grading period: students need to read at least one chapter book and at least one non-fiction book. They will also create and present a book report--information will be given to students later.

**Progress reports will be sent home on Friday!**

1/2 & 3/4 periods reading:"The Great Serum Race", pgs. 222-237. TEST TOMORROW, FEB. 3.

1/2 & 3/4 periods language: We will focus on persuasive writing.

5th period Lit. Skills: We will begin working on writing a persuasive paragraph this week.

7/8 period reading: "The Lost City: The Discovery of Machu Picchu," pgs. 44-58. TEST TOMORROW, Feb. 3. Reread story, study vocabulary, and study guide.

7/8 period language: We will be working on subjects and predicates this week.
